Purpose of Lakewood Christian Fellowship (LCF):
Why do we exist? To glorify God, bearing witness to the good news of Christ and God’s kingdom.
Lakewood Christian Fellowship (LCF) Mission Statement:
Reaching Lost People, Growing In Christ, Serving Our Community
Core Values of Lakewood Christian Fellowship (LCF):
These are the values that influence the mission, the people, and the actions of LCF.
Culture may shift, people will come and go, opinions will change, and the
surrounding community may be different over time, but the core values of LCF remain constant.
God’s Word
God’s Word comes from His breath and reveals Himself to us. His words
equip us to live in this world. Through God’s Word we are able to learn, to
guide, to correct one another, and become complete followers of God.
God’s Word is the lamp that lights our path forward.
2 Timothy 3:16 “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching,
rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness… “
Psalm 119:105 “Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.”
Prayer
Prayer is our devoted conversation with God. In prayer we lift up His praise,
we call out to Him, and we bring everything before Him. Through prayer we
seek Him, we listen to Him, and we wait for Him. In prayer, we believe God
speaks to us, brings us together, and draws us into His presence.
Jeremiah 29:12-13 “Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and
I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all
your heart.”Philippians 4:6 “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”
Discipleship
Discipleship is the command to teach, invest, and model all we have learned
from following Jesus to other followers along the way. Discipleship equips us for the work of His ministry and building up His believers.
Matthew 28:18 – 20 “Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything l have commanded you. And surely, I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
2 Timothy 2:2, 15 “And the things you have heard Me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others… Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth .”
Ephesians 4:12-13 “… to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.”
Outreach to Our Community
LCF’s focus is to serve the O’ Kane neighborhood and the City of Lakewood.
We are light for others to see the goodness of God at work. We serve not for our own benefit, but for the benefit and blessing of others. Outreach to our community includes caring for all people, no matter what their circumstances are or relationship to LCF.
Matthew 5:14-16, “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
Matthew 25:35-36, 40 “For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me… Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.
Mission of LCF
We are witnesses to God’s work in our lives and His church. Through the power of the Holy Spirit we take His message of salvation, redemption, and transformation wherever we find ourselves from local places to the ends of the earth.
Acts 1:8 “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
Matthew 9:37-38 “Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore to send out workers into his harvest field.”
Romans 10:14-15 “How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”
